Henry Magazine: We All Deserve A Treat Every Now And Then…

We are so happy to feature in Henry Magazine this quarter! So, without further ado, check out their amazing write up below...

There’s no doubt that the hospitality industry has gone through a tough time recently. One Taupō local is out to change that, though. At age 22, Fleur Wolstenholme created TreatNZ: a unique free platform for local eateries to advertise events, deals, and specials; as well as provide a one- stop-shop for yummy deals for locals.

Since launching in Taupō in late 2020, the platform has quickly grown to include Rotorua, Hamilton, and Auckland. We spoke to Fleur about how TreatNZ is helping local restaurants and making dining out easier for Kiwis.

“For some restaurateurs, we know that social media marketing isn’t their forte. We take away that stress and give them an awesome online presence, so they can focus on what they do best – creating memorable experiences in their eatery,” Fleur says excitedly.

Hare & Copper Eatery in Turangi is one local business who has jumped on board with no regrets. “TreatNZ not only gives the public some fantastic dining opportunities, but they give a huge social media push for the businesses involved too. 110% recommend TreatNZ”, Andrew Wood, owner.

On average, restaurants take over 60% of their revenue on Friday and Saturday nights. That means throughout the rest of the week there’s a lot of down time. The lights are on, but post-COVID diners are watching their wallets – and this is where TreatNZ comes in.

The idea began when Fleur wanted to treat her partner to dinner, having just finished university. She noticed that some local eateries weren’t maximising social media and digital marketing to attract new diners. She built TreatNZ to bridge the gap between small, family-run eateries and the digital world. The core purpose is to help small businesses build their buzz online, but it also gives locals a way to dine out, as many kiwis now see dining out as an unaffordable luxury.

“Discounting has never been included in my business model however, I was so impressed with their social media and strategy that I wanted in! The support has been unreal, and we will continue to work with Treat NZ” says Camilla Baker, owner of Cozy Corner, Taupō.

With TreatNZ’s unique platform providing local hospitality specials, you can find deals every day of the week. Better yet, you’ll be supporting local, independent businesses. For just $4 a month or $6 for a one-off booking, diners can access deals like 2-for-1 mains or 40% off food. So, you can save some cash and still treat yourself!
